Samsung Galaxy S3 the new flagship handheld for the Korean company is closing in on the Apple iPhone in terms of device activations. The closest rival to the Apple iPhone has taken approximately 18 percent of the UK market as per this report. A similar type of response is also expected in the U.S.
Samsung’s combined sales outstrip Apple, standing at more than 30 percent.
Android is the also the most popular OS amongst the smartphones, and this is perhaps one of the main reasons why the Samsung device sales have gone up. Another reason being the larger screen size of Samsung phones such as Galaxy Note and Ace. A big challenge for Samsung appears to be the loyal Apple iPhone fan-base, who happen to be sticking around for the next iPhone to be released in the fall.
The Android operating system is also, overall, the most popular OS. It accounts for four out of ten smartphones in use, and more than half of all those sold.
